Battery Post Corrosion

Hi Guy's,I need some help.
New battery and cables ect.
Positive terminal stays nice and clean.
Negative terminal builds corrosion very quickly.
Anyone have a fix?

I don't know why its happening ,but put some baking soda in a shallow dish with a little water, dump some on and its gone.  Mark

Spread grease on the post and wire, after you clean it and make sure it's on tight.

   They claim that electrolite vaper escapes around the battery post and the chemical reaction to the post in air is corrosion. Have you ever seen corrosion on the inside plates of a battery if you let the electrolite get low. Same thing, air got to the plates. Putting grease on the post keeps air from getting to it. Jim

I use the red and black felt washers sold for this problem.  It seems to work OK.

The treated felt washers help and use electrolytic grease [the same stuff they use on spark plug terminals] on the battery terminals and the cable lugs.  not only will it inhibit corrosion but it improves conductivity.  The same grease also helps on light bulbs and the sockets the plug into.
