hello ...anybody out there know what motor mounts will work on a 427 im trying to install in a 57 custom?Also will 63/64 cast iron long headers work? thanks

The stock 57 V8 motor mounts work on the "FE" engines.

The long style cast iron headers won't work, as they get into the steering box. If you exchange the `57 steering box for a smaller, more modern design `58 or newer box, you may be able to use the `62-63 406 short style cast iron headers. Like Gerry said, the stock Y-block motor mounts from your `57 will work fine. It's a direct swap. Good luck, let us hear more about your 427 Custom.

Can I ask what is an FE engine ?? I would love to put a 302 in my 57 and was going to ask how on here . thanks

FE is the desigantion given to the engines introduced in '58. the 332, 351, including later 360, 390, etc.

If photos would be of any assistance, I can provide any that you need of my 427 in a '57. I am still using the what I believe to be the stock motor mounts. My inner fenders were removed for additional weight savings so photos are easy to take. I will be removing the front clip again in the next couple of weeks to re-install the inner fenders. I intend to pull the car off the track and put it back on the street to terrorize the neighbors, especially the '69 Camaro across the street.

I've got a good pair of the 68-70 style 428 cobra jet exhaust manifolds that I would be willing to part with if these would help you out any? I've also got a '57 ranchero with a 352 in it that may have the hardware that you need.

Say YOU want to put a 302 in YOUR 57?,I put one in my fordor custom & it works like a charm,I took out my 223 stick & changed over to a 302 with a C-4 trans.with no problems at all except the speedo geer won't match up with the cable geer cause it needs 3 more teeth & its not made- but it works out to be 3mph per tooth on the highway so I read 79 mph on the dash at 70 mph actual speed(had it clocked),other than that go for it,good luck-DON

Hey smurf, did you have to change motor mounts? If so what did you use? Someone told me the other day that they used the stock motor mounts for a late model and just turned them around. I don't know if he meant that he turned the left one around and used it on the left or if he meant that he used the left on the right and vise versa. I'm putting a '93 EFI 302 HO out of a Mustang into the ranch wagon along with an AOD.

I would also like to know smurf !!!I heard the truck mounts work the best . A pic would be better .....did you use the stock mounts

The stock mounts will work just fine,I got my 302 out of a 68 pick-up & could have also used the truck mounts but I lowered my engine & set it back for traction so I used PARTS MASTER 2220 & 2221 from my NAPA store & they worked just fine-SMURFEE

I put a 5.0 / 5 speed from a 93 Mustang into my Ranchero. I found the stock motor mounts on the 5.0 worked perfect in the Ranchero just by making the top hole in the frame mount big enough to accept the single stud on the Mustang motor mount. The transmission bolted right up with no mods needed. I believed I flipped the motor mounts to move the engine back, but I dont remember what position they were in in the mustang. Also all the EFI stuff clears the firewall with no mods needed although I plan on trimming that pinch weld just for a little more clearance.

Hi DT 57, I have a 57 ranchero and I used 1974 Bronco 302 motor mounts you will have to make up 4 one inch spacers that go between the block and the mounts. This sets the engine just right pleanty of room at the firewall for the valve covers and room for a stock small ford fan. Drive line angles workout as well no need to reset the pinion.

I also put a 351w in my RW that had a six.Used spacers and longer bolts mount to motor   to postion motor,mounts were 69.Used a 59 auto colume and changed to AOD and wurth-it rack.Drives great.

I will be putting a 302/AOD into my ranchwagon. I have motor mounts (I think also 69) and a 59 AUTO column as well. What modifications did you have to make to the tranny crossmember to accept the AOD? can you also provide more details on the spacers and bolts used?

Answer for metor ,re;AOD   We trimed crossmember to clear pan and then welded a strip to reenforce crossmember.Trimed m/m holes to mate to crossmember.Bolts 2 1/2 apx start spacers at apx 1 1/4- 1 1/2.Are you using colume shift? Let me know if your cuting colume shaft for P/S

I'm using the stock T5 from the 93 Mustang
With the mustang engine mounts, you dont need any spacers.
