1957 Ranchero 3 speed low/reverse fork orientation

I pulled apart my 3 spped transmission to inspect the gears. Found first/reverse gear with a couple teeth missing. I replaced the gear, have the tranny back together BUT not sure which way the shifter fork goes in. For this gear, it has an offset to one side from the stem. Does the offset go over the gear or does it go to the side, away from the gear?  It is a 9 bolt side cover, with the shifter linkage going through this cover. I believe it is a Borg Warner Trans.  It has casting numbers 9F30 / AF-7006-D on the tranny housing.

A little late here but if you dont have it together yet the offset goes to the rear.
