Anyone running Flowmasters with a Y-Block? I've run them with 302s and have loved the sound but wasn't sure if they'd produce the same ROAR with my 312. I know the glasspack is a good option.

I've been wondering the same thing, I have flowmasters on a couple cars and haven't  found any videos or sound clips to sample for a Y block. I did however find this clip on youtube that had some Magnaflows on a 56 ranch wagon with a 292. Sounds pretty good, maybe a little to loud...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brQwMEIOGds

When I hung the exhaust on mine, I went with a kit from JC whitney. It was for a 60's cougar ,mustang. I went that route because the tailpipes were similar, going up over the axle then to the outside of the big gas tank. The kit came with mufflers, called performance mufflers. Sounds really nice, not to loud, but just enough.I think it was 225$  delivered. Mark

Check out this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YN3bQi4n46A&feature=related. It's a 292 in a 1974 Galaxie (somewhere in south America). It sound great and also there is no soild lifter noise. Is it posible to convert to hydralic?

A y-block can not be converted to hyd. lifters, and if they are adjusted right right you will not hear the solid lifters. Tom

On the lifters, I always ran mine a little tight and never had a problem. I'd try .017. I ran many at .015.

I have a set of Thrush "Flowmaster lookalikes" on my 57 that sound similar to Flowmasters. Cheaper too.

I have a set of the original 2 chamber flow master son my '57 sedan with a supercharged 312.

I could not be happier.   I drive it on road trips, get on it around town and it is not too loud to drowney.

I used 2 1/4" pipe all the way out to turn downs before the back bumper, and a balance tube.

I went from glasspaks to the flows and it was so much better sounding, even with the low performance y-block it had then.    I now have a 352 inch 312 and it still sounds tough, but not to loud to step on it without calling every cop around.

I do have flows on some other cars and they are louder with 2 1/2" pipe on a big block.
