I was just wondering if anyone would take a wild guess at how much i would
need to cut off of my front springs to drop the front end one inch?
I know it shouldn't be done, but being a hot rodder, I will probably do it anyway, lol.
I was thinking about sawing off half a coil, sound about right?

Hi Roger,
For what it is worth, I have a pair of springs off of my 57 that I cut one coil from and then formed the last coil to match the A Arm spring pocket.  I also powder coated them black.  I changed my suspension to air ride and so don't need these springs any longer.  This will give you more than a one inch drop so they might not work for you.

i think about 1/2" of spring height should equal about 1" or wheel height. This is judging by where the spring is located on the A-arm.

Roger there is no reason not to cut the spring.  Use a cut off wheel, not a tourch.  Also remember the more you cut the stiffer the spring becomes.  A coil spring is nothing more then a torsion bar curled up and the shorter a torsion bar is the stiffer it is.

Thanks to everyone for the advice.
Dennis, thank you for the offer but I'm really not
trying to go quite as low as the springs that you have.
I think I will just use a cutoff wheel and start by taking off half a coil.
I will post picks of how it turns out.
