ignition switch removal

can someone school me on removal of the ignition switch from the dash. I had an electrical short and need to replace the whole harness...Bought a painless harness.

Put the ignition key in the cylinder, you should see a small hole just under the key slot, use a paper clip straightened out, put it in the hole, push in while turning the cylinder CCW and then pull the cylinder out of the switch.  Grasp the switch from behind and push towards the dash board and turn it CCW, the front trim ring should come out and the switch and a large spring will drop from behind the dash.
