1st,   i'm sure alot of my coughing problems are from using a kerosean torpedo,  and then again it could have been a bad resperator,  so the first question,   i'm going to try a propane torpedo and c what happens,   any ideas on that?,    2nd question,   tonite i broke the front emergency brake cable,  and in my cats it says either a 47" or 48" to use,  i know its only one inch,  and if i let my wife on here she would say a inch is a inch,  so,  does it make a difference? one better then the other?,  thanks   jerry

Jerry,
I used a kerosene heater when I built my airplane. I averaged 4 hours a day for 34 months out in that garage building it. During the winter that's all I had. I had headaches consistantly during the winter. That stuff will kill you. There's no way I could survive that again. I was 41 when I started it and I was in considerable better shape then. Use electric heaters. Jim

a propane torpedo will kill you just like if you ran the car in there put a modine heater in with vent stack its better with less health problems your car is no good to you if your dead

Mac's in New York state has the 57 Ford front emergency brake cable, and it states that the  43" cable fits all body styles. I recently bought one for my Custom 300 there. Their shipping is pricy though. I always swear I will never buy from them again, but keep going back.
I use a propane torpedo heater to preheat my small shop, and then let a propane top tank heater take over after I shut the torpedo down. My shop is all insulated with a 14 ft insulated door. I give a little fresh air once in a while. Doesn't seem to bother me.

Jerry, as I said in Rich's post about garage heat, torpedo and kerosene heaters are bad news. Main reason being is they are unvented, you are breathing the exhaust. If you are going to work in your shop , in this area, invest in a good unit heater. Mark
