FBb, would the oilpressurelight be wired the same as the alternator light? Thanks, Tim

Yes and no, it gets 12V switched as well.  12V runs through the light to the oil presure switch and with no oil presure the switch puts a ground on the line to light to bulb.  The alternator light is in essence grounded until the alternator makes 12V then there is 12V on both sides of the bulb and it goes out.
