Can a guy sleeve a  cylinder in the car?  Will this effect the balance?  I have a chance to buy a motor that needs a sleeve, I know that 312s are getting rare. Should I mess with it or look for a good one?  thanks for your input.

A sleeve needs to be done at a good machine shop IMO. They cut the top of the bore like a step
to hold the sleeve in place. I don't think that can be done in the car. I never was a fan of sleeves,
but I might consider it with a rare engine.

I have run sleeves in some of my F code drag engines with no problems.  But why would you want to do it in the car if you are getting a spare engine?  Sleeving in the car would be almost impossible on a V type engine, an inline would be doable.  There would be no affect on the balance using a sleeve.  John
