When I was a kid the local shopping centers (now called malls) would do car shows in the open areas now full of kiosks. Which was great as cruising was pretty much dead at the time and the factory muscle cars now owned the streets. So was great to see early cars on display that had been relegated to garage queen status. Not to trash-talk the tri-5s but in those days the local club emphasis seemed geared toward bone stock examples. And just as the cookie cutter 32s cableguy is talking about it made for a very boring show. It would have been the same if they'd been Fords just not one hint of an original thought in the build.

I love that 57, mustang dash and all. Would I drive it ? Hell yes ! Would I build it ? Probably not. And not just for lack of funds or skill level. I just have a different vision for my car. And it, like the Mustang, does stray away a bit from what was originally delivered by Ford. And that for me is the appeal.

Like I said, to each their own, build em how you want em. I'm satisfied with just the fact that there is another kick ass 57 saved from the crusher and built into a beautiful ride. Not my tastes but I didn't build it either. Like Zap said, would I drive it, hell yes, wouldn't build it though as it's not my taste. I just hope it's not a garage or trailer queen and it actually gets driven. But just the fact it exists on such a high level is good enough and hopefully it gets enough pub to generate more interest in the 57 so we have more parts and more cars so on and so on.
Ban low performance driver's, not high performance cars.

Personnally if I wanted to sit behind a late model dashboard, I'd drive a late model car. One of the coolest part of any pre-60's car is the dashboard, most are a work of art on there own as they came from the factory & cannot be improved on. A bit like a juke-box but with a steering wheel!

I like rods & customs but for me the dashboard is the heart of the car and I haven't seen many that need improving.

All in my opinion!

Again, just an opinion. Would agree that lots of 50s dashes are works of art however 57-58 Fords not so much. They are plain to the point of boredom. Absolutely lacking in pizzaz, just no flash. Compare them to any other 57 car and you will draw a big yawn. And it was/is the same no matter on model level. Just as boring on a fairlane as a custom. Compare them to their brethren (Edsel, Mercury and Lincoln) and even the baseline Edsel is flashier. But like I said its just an opinion and we know one of those won't buy even a cup of coffee.
