Will all 292 interchange? I have what I think is an early '60's 292. Will it bolt up to our '57 with a 292 auto trans? This may be a dumb question, but I don't have that much experiance with these cars.
Anyone can restore a classic car, but it takes a real hot rodder to cut one up and make it cool.

Thanks. We have a spare motor and the one in the car is tired, but still runs so I figured we could build the spare while he still drives the car.

The later Y block will replace the 57 engine with no problems, in fact the later engine has a better block and is a better canidate for a rebuild, however your 57 engine should have the better ECZ G heads.

Check out the Yblocksforever site for everything you ever wanted to know about the Y block. Great forum and a great bunch of guys!
