Hot Rod Custom

Hi everybody,
I'm new to the forum and thought that maybe someone has a spare jack handle for my Custom sedan. I think they're all the same for several years and most models. I wouldn't think it'll be hard to find. I'm trying to get my car ready for some longer road trips this summer and I need a complete jack. I have everything except the handle. Please help. You can contact me via email for the fastest reply. It's kts1963@yahoo.com. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Tom..
first, welcome to the forum.
Second, I don't have one, mine got sent off to another menber last year along with the jack itself. They are a very generic handle probably the same or similar enough from most any car that had a bumper jack. Maybe another member could at least give you some dimensions of an oem correct handle so you'll know what you're looking for if an accurate replacement is what you're looking for.
third,I strongly suggest you do not use a bumper jack. They will cause damage to the bumper itself, and seeing as our rides are 50+ years old, could cause damage  to the brackets as well. Some of the guys who are driving or showing unmodified cars have the bumper jacks for show only, and carry a scissors jack from a newer vehicle for actual use if needed on the road.
fourth, being a new member, we'd sure like to hear about your Custom. please do a post in the general discusion area and tell us about you and your ride.....not a requirement here as it is on other forums, just alot of guys with similar interests that would like to hear about and see your car.
fifth, Colorado..awesome. I'm from Amarillo, but lived in Colorado Springs for 23 years. Where in Colorado are you from? last year myself and three other forum members met for the first time face to face at a member's home in Black Forest. We had a great time, and I was just thinking we need to do it again. ( when is the River Walk car show this year in Pueblo?) We have 19 members here in Texas, but the Colorado members are alot closer to me than almost all of the Texas guys.
LOL..this is a long reply for a jack handle!
Welcome again..Rich

Thanks for the warm welcome, Rich. You've got a lot of helpful suggestions. I'm not picky as long as the handle looks like it was with the jack assembly when it was new.

I just posted some photos and info. on my car in the "Members Rides" section. Check it out. Once I have the car all dialed in, I'll get better and more detailed photos and post them.

I lived in Pueblo for about ten years, and the Riverwalk show was always a must-attend event. The Outlaws Car Club always does a great job and many of those guys are my friends. The show will be on May 3rd. It's a beautiful area and many worthwhile things to see and do in the area like Lake Pueblo State Park, Royal Gorge, Air Force Academy, Old Colorado City, etc. If any of the forum guys are interested, come on out. Here's a link for more info. http://puebloriverwalk.org/calendar/outlawcarshow

I now live in Fort Collins and think that a gathering of fellow '57 Ford enthusiasts would be great. I'm sure we can use the forum to make this happen,. You seem better-acquainted with the workings of this; I'm just an old geezer who recently found this great forum. If I can help (or even host) a get-together, let me know. It sounds like great fun. Black Forest isn't far from Pueblo, Colorado Springs, or even Denver.

Thanks again for the kind words and I hope everyone enjoys seeing my car.

Tom

PM me for a contact number and we can start planning it.

Sounds great. Let me figure my schedule and I'll pm you. May be a week or so. I'll see if I can find the thread of our last year's meeting.....great group of guys and one gal....we all enjoyed it. At least in the pics you'll notice you won't be the only "old geezer" LOL

Welcome aboard Tom.  My oldest is at the Proto Call office at the Acadamy and we visit with her various times of the year.  We were out there last July.  Might look at scheduling a visit during the get together.  Did a bunch of touring around the place.  Very nice area.

Forgot to mention Pikes Peak, did that drive up.  Quite a rush!  Did the drive early during the week and had no traffic on the way up or back down.  The "speed advisory" signs were ignored though!  :003:

That would be awesome Bill. It's about time we got to shake hands. Now there's some motivation to get this thing rolling. I'll see if I can get ahold of the Colorado guys..haven't heard much from them lately.

Welcome to the forum and I hope that you take Rich's advice and only use the bumper jack for show. Get some sort of a scissors jack.  With the cost of plating today you would not want to damage a nice bumper .

I found a nice small scissor jack I'll use on the road but I'm still looking for an original handle so the spare tire assembly is present and complete. Can anybody help?

Thanks to everyone for all of the great advice.

I really hope we can get some people together this summer. It would be a lot of fun. I don't know if we could do it in conjunction with the Riverwalk show. There's another great show in Old Colorado City (directly west of Colo. Spgs.) in August. I don't have details yet but I know it's a fabulous show. I can post details as soon as I get them.
