BACK ORDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find technology a fabulous arena when shopping for anything.  I do all Christmas shopping on-line.  Of all the web sites I visit, the classic, aftermarket auto parts sellers are the most frustrating if not out right pissing me off.  Almost all marketing sites let the buyer know there is a back ordered item in your selections.  Not the classic auto parts web sites.  Every time I have a list of parts ordered and one item is flagged 'back ordered', the order is shipped with no notice the order is incomplete.  Given the option, I would cancel the order and shop one of the several other sellers that might be able to fill the complete order.  The seller sells what they have in stock and tough luck on the rest of the order.  I recently ordered a gas tank from seven different sellers and none of them notified me of back order status until I got an email invoice at best.  Two sellers gave no notice at all...after ten days, I had to call for the status of the order.  I had to call to cancel the back ordered item, apply credit to my card, or be assured my card wouldn't have been charged until the back order shipped.

Since the online sellers can't be upfront, I'll have to go back to the 800 number and ask for confirmation of inventory.
