In the past have always used baking soda to clean battery posts. No more. Most of us have probably heard of a variety of uses other than thirst quenching. Yesterday was checking the oil in my wifes' car and found that wonderful blue crystal mess on the battery ground post. In the back of my mind remembered hearing Coke was the perfect cleaner for the job. Grabbed a coke out of the fridge and started to pour it on. No fizzing or anything it just ''melts'' away as fast as it the coke hits it. Pulled clamp poured a bit more , hit it with scotch brite, greased it and put it back together.

Nice to add another tool to the box.

Am told it works on a lot of off topic cars not just our Fords.

I have a friend who uses molasses as a rust remover. you can soak a part in it for a few weeks and the results are nothing short of incredible!

We used to use Coke/Pepsi to break pistons free of the cylinder walls back when we were restoring Model T's. Pour on top of the piston, wait a week or 2. Many other things wouldn't work, but Pepsi/Coke sure did.

I've used Cola as a de-greaser before now, it's good stuff but it does make me wonder what it does to your inside when you drink it!
