From what I've  found out there are basicly 2 different versions of the 4100 carbs. One for small and another for big blocks. They appear to be physically the same. So what are the differences. Jet size or what?

I think it is venturi size, 1.08 480cfm and 1.12 600cfm from memory (but that doesn't always work, so correct me if I'm wrong).
I want one of them to replace the Carter on my 312, but hard to get down here in NZ.

Agreed, its venturi size. I would also think the 600 cfm would have larger jetting.

Bought the carb and a manifold is on its way. Now need a passenger car pan and pickup tube.

Zap, try offering the truck pan to the Hot Rod crowd on the HAMB. There will be some guys stepping up and swap their pssgr pans.
