Anybody ever get their 57 weighed? The info I found out on the web says 3211 for a 70A. The weight just seems a little light to me, I was thinking maybe 3600-3700?

My 70A weighs 3940.

It's a little heavier than most.  The supercharger set-up adds some weight to the Y-Block.  Mine has A/C, good stereo, two 10's plus 2 amps &4 speakers, some sound deadening under the carpet, seat belts, spare tire, aluminum floor jack, 13' Rotors with Baer Brakes, 17x8 & 20x10 Torque Thrusts, Cal Tracks, Nodular 3rd w/ Detroit Locker 31splines, full dual exhaust, headers, Tremec TKO. big electric fuel pump, both horns, 57chby electric wiper motor. That's the heavy stuff.

For the lightweight stuff, it's got an aluminum driveshaft, aluminum pinion support, Blue Thunder Aluminum Intake, Mummert Aluminum heads, ReBop Aluminum Timing cover, Aluminum Radiator(stock looking and painted black).

Finished out they are much heavier than the stripped out 6cyl models with no fluids.

All that little stuff adds up, but it wouldn't be both fast and comfortable without all the extras

I will let you know, I plan on weighing mine in the next couple of days. I weighed my Fiarlane 500 4 dr sedan with a 428 and a T-10...in 1967! 3750 lbs. If my Custom goes over 3500 I will be shocked. A friend (in the day) weighed his '68 big block Camaro and it went 3550. He was stunned!

Mine has a 460 based engine with Edelbrock heads and aluminum intake which should help. The c-6 could even be lighter than the cast iron Fordo I replaced it with.
No a/c,  power brakes, steering, heater, radio, clock, it also has an aluminum radiator, but has Caltracs and the n-case and 31 spline axles to.

If mine came in at under 3700 I'd be quite happy.

I weighed my 73B years ago. Have to look around for the sheet, but if I remember right it came in around 3500 lbs. It was about as close to stock as you can get at the time, with a 312 & 3 speed OD, at least half a tank of gas, and a spare tire in the trunk.

Good to know! Thanks.

Gonna get mine weighed this summer. If mine comes in at over 3400, I'll be surprised. aluminum block, alum. heads, alum intake (maybe plastic??)alum tranny case, alum. driveshaft, aluminum radiator, no back bumper, lightweight seats, lighter steering, ect.
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

Just got mine weighed tonight at the local race track, came in a 3660- 160 for my weight so it's 3500 on the button with less than half a tank.
That's about 200 less than I thought, and yes, I'm pleasantly surprised. :003:

Ramdy, did you weigh it at Mission Raceways street legal drags? That sounds about right, a few years ago I weighed my 59 2 door sedan at Mission. 59s all had the longer 118" wheelbase, like a 57/8 Fairlane, and with the all original 332 FE and 2 speed aluminum FordOMatic it weighed 3560 lbs, which I was quite happy with. My 59 has manual steering & brakes, and the trunk was empty at the time, with 1/2 tank of gas. That was almost exactly what my 70 Mustang Mach 1 weighed! (428CJ, toploader 4 speed, PS, PDB, fold down rear seat etc).     My old 57 Frd Sedan Delivery was quite a bit heavier, 3890, with a swapped FE 360 and C6, manual steering & brakes.
1959 Meteor 2 door sedan , 428 Cobra Jet 4 speed. Been drag racing Fords (mostly FEs) 47 years and counting.
Previous 50s Fords include 57 Custom 4 door, 2 57 Ford Sedan Deliveries, 59  Country Sedan, and as a 9 year old, fell in love with the family 58 2 door Ranch Wagon.

This interesting... A good friend of mine runs several gravel pits all with weigh scales.... I may run out this coming week.

Yes, Rory at the Mission street legals. Had a great time, I haven't raced on a drag strip since 1985 at Bremerton.

First pass was 13.46 @ 107 mph, lots of tire spin. Second pass was 11.95 @ 107 mph. and then a bunch of low 12's at 107.

Ignition problems from around the 1000 foot mark on. I had the shift light set conservatively at 5600 rpm and it never came on once.

So overall I'm pretty happy with it, and should be able to pick up a few more tenths.

Interesting topic as I wanted to trailer my Ranchero (stock apart from disc brakes, Wurth rack conversion & 302 and AOD) to get the exhaust fabricated, my towcar has a 4400lb trailer limit & my trailer weighs 1200lbs, only leaves me 3200lbs for the Ranchero which is too light.  Looks like I'll be hiring a truck for a day!

Well, a little late, my car weighed in at 3510.... Tudor, FE, toploader, aluminum heads, intake, water pump, less than 1/2 tank of gas. I was hoping for a little lighter but that is weigh less (pun intended) than most folks would guess. :003:

57AGIN

Guys:

57 AGIN weighed in at the California Speedway back in 2008 at 3700 pounds.  At the time it had the 351W, with aluminum heads & intake manifold, steel Lakewood scatter shield, headers with cutouts and a X pipe & dual exhausts all the way to rear bumper, full upholstery, empty trunk, radio, 10 CD Changer in trunk and heater.  That was with a T-10 Four-speed transmission.  I'm sure it will weigh about the same or a little more now with the Supercharger, Tremec TKO 600 Five-speed transmission & Mark Williams aluminum drive shaft with 2 drive shaft safety loops.

These cars when full of lubricants, water, & some fuel were not light weights.  I'm certain that it is possible to lose 200-300 pounds by going on a weight reduction program, but there is a lot of 18 gauge sheet metal and a good helping of heavy weight steel frame, bumpers & supports and very little plastics fiber glass or carbon fiber, etc.
