door lock cover fix

Has anyone ever replaced the spring for the door lock cover? I have the spring but I'm not sure how the cover detaches from the lock cylinder. Does it just pop out with a small screwdiver or do you have to remove the entire lock cylinder from the door to gain access to the back of it?

Once you remove the lock from the door you will be able to see how the spring goes.  The spring holds the cover in the lock housing.   John

So please tell me if I'm correct. To remove the lock cylinder from the door, I just have to pull out the retainer in the door jam behind the seal. And to reinstall the lock cylinder, I insert it back into the door, make sure the operating lever connects to the lock linkage, and slide the retainer back in.
