Thank you!  I also want to add my thanks to all veterans and service members for without them/you our country couldn't exist.  "All gave some, some gave all", I don't know the author, but it is definitely true!

6 more drill days and I can retire! I am finally enjoying life and decided that 23 years was enough time to give the Air National Guard.

Congratulations!  I only gave the Army guard 8 years before following it with 20 years Active.  I found it amazing to realize how much of my adult life I gave in service. I was asked once if I regretted spending so much time in the service. My reply was that I regret that I couldn't do it again!

I'm with you on that Terry!  29 years, traveled the world, enjoyed the fellows I worked with, enjoyed the challenges and mostly enjoyed the satisfaction of helping youngsters find their way.

That all came with a butt load of sacrifice though.  18 years of sea duty, 8 and 1/2 six month or longer deployments caused many of "life's events" to be missed.  Birthdays, Christmases, holidays, school events and of course family time.  Good wife and kids that understood helped with that aspect for me.  Kids have no complaints, all three girls are level headed and strong.  All three enjoy the power they have earned and know how to use it properly.

Would I do it again?  In a heart beat!  I tend away from all the hoopla around the recognition part as I felt it was my duty. Life had been good and "repaying" seamed like the thing to do.
