How do you reinstall the hood springs??

I took the hood hinges apart on my 57 Custom to have them blasted.  All looks great, but how do I compress the da...  hood springs to reinstall them?   :dumbass:

Got it!  If you ever run into this, here's how I did it. Use a long threaded rod with two washers and nuts to compress the spring to about 7" in height. Run a strong wire (coat hanger?) down the inside of the spring starting 2 three coils from the top and out about 2-3 coils from the bottom. While the spring is compressed twist the wire to hold the spring compressed. Carefully remove the threaded rod and slip the compressed spring over the hood latch lever.  Put in the pins that hold the spring and cut the wire out with side cutters.
