Hello  Members  Have a HEH-D  (1964 toploader 4 speed from a full sized car, drivers side speedo port) trying to find which driven gear I need.  Original gear and cable from auto trans will not mate easy with the drive gear in the 4 speed, which both have ports over tail shaft. I believe drive gear is a six tooth (it looks white maybe a little pink and know its original to trans). Car has stock height tires and 3:50 diff. Anyone here been down this road?  Thanks

Good luck;  My 57 with T85 and 4:10 ratio which was not avail. in 57 gave me fits in trying to find a proper driven gear.  Finally gave up and now use one of those satellite things that plugs into the cigarette lighter and sits on the dash. Perfect.

There are at least a a pink and a black drive gear. I have both. the pink is 6 teeth the black is 7. They are the same number of teeth that was available in that trans originally. The pink is for rear gears that are low (high numerically) and the black is for high gear rear ends. The trick is matching both the drive gear and the  driven gear together for the rear end ratio you have. The other issue is that depending on whether the cable is on the right side or the left side the driven gears are either RH or LH. Cable on the driver's side requires a green 6 tooth drive gear.

Confused yet...? If I know your rear end ratio and rear tire size I can calculate the teeth count for the drive/driven gear that you need. Then you buy the right color driven gear (or drive gear possibly) you need based on where the speedometer cable exits the transmission.

Fun fact... speedometers are correct when at an input of 1000 rpm they read 60 mph

Hello  With Lynns help figure out problem. Since trans was never mess with the drive gear was white nylon. All repro stuff is color coded which was confusing. Will order driven gear from Kees and hope it fits stock speedo cable.
