Is there any specific interval that you should adjust your valve lash? It had been about 5000 miles since I last adjusted them. I am starting to get a little noise but the car still idles and runs fine.

Thanks,

If everything is in good shape it should go years between adjusting.
Hope everything is oiling good.

checking the 57 meteor owners manual, they say to adjust valves on every major tune up or about every 10,000 miles

Thanks Guys. I will leave them alone for at least 5000 more miles or so.

I have been running solid lifter cams in all of my hot rods for years.  Your lifter noise should be a slight rattle, not a concert.  If you can clearly hear the lifters clattering in a stock Y-block with the hood shut, you have a potential problem. If this is the case, I would adjust my valves immediately and make sure you have adequate oil flow to the rockers.  Y-blocks have the worst oiling system ever and the small oil passages leading to the heads can become clogged.  This is the reason many Y-blocks were retrofitted with external oil lines.   I don't want to alarm you, but you should look into this problem and make sure you don't have any issues. By the way, I only drive my cars on the weekend and to car shows.  I check my valve lash every 90 days or so.  But, I also run aggressive cams and they tend to be tougher on the valve train.   :burnout:
