My local glass guy wanted $550 for a windshield and installation.  I bought a new tinted windshield from Auto City Glass for $269.  Picked it up at a local car show and saved the frieght.   I was nervous about installing it myself but it went much smoother than I had expected.  The nice thing about a 57 Ford is that the glass, gasket and trim install as a unit.  That way, you can get everything lined up perfect before you drop it in.  I used the string method with my wife pushing on the outside of the glass.  The windshield and trim fit nice and tight.  Much better than the garbage they use for trim on my 65 Mustang.  Here's a link: http://www.lakefrontflorida.com/57ford/windshield.html

Glad to know the windshield worked out for you, as I have one from Auto City glass that I plan to install next week. I'v been a little nervous about it , as I was told, by another glass co. that quite often Auto Citys windshields don't fit to well, I'll let you know if I got the bad one.  Take care, Alvin.

The windshield I received from Auto City fit perfectly.  It's the standard Ford Custom tinted windshield without the dark strip.   I'm getting close to a driver now.  The car's going to the muffler shop tomorrow then to the alignment shop.  I can drive it while I finish the interior.  Three years is a long time...can't wait.  :001:
