312 y block

My 312 is tired and I am wondering what to do. Any idea what cost is to rebuild or what engine could I use for a drop in replacement. Tranny is fordomatic 2 speed.

I'd keep the 312. Just buy a few parts at a time till you have them all and rebuild it.
If the bore isn't too bad just ring and bearing it and have the heads done.
If it's actually a 312, be sure to get the proper bearings for it.

Two years ago my 292 cost me $1800.00 to have rebuilt,(block & heads) including boring, new pistions, blueprinting and ballancing.

No drop ins out side of the Y-block.  FE, 351 and 289/302 are all easy swaps but the tranny will have to go also....
