That is cool! Thanks for that. Well one thing Jeff Norwell who for the most part is everyone's friend told me that the guys on this site are a great bunch, so far I can see that.

Hey 4thGen...if you dont mind, send me the full size photos to my email  JPotter at speedmaven dot com...Those are cool, but the pics are a bit small...I'd love to get a better look at those..I currently have a version of my two Customs, as well as Richard Stuck's very cool F code Custom.  This is one of the best kits to come out in years...Love it.

Did you notice that one of those models had what looks like a straight front axle?

hotroddonnie

Yes I did, I haven't put a model together in years but I  think I may take sometime to put this one together. I think you could probably fine a model kit club that may have extra parts, like an axle, maybe headers, and a moon tank. One thing for sure, I'm not gonna wimp out and not cut out the wheel wells like someone else here!  :001:

hotroddonnie

See what you gone and done 4thgen57, I'm already planning my game, I will take the left over paint from my 57 put it into an aerosol can and cut the 3 year painting down to 3 minutes, what a great start!

4thgen57

Hotroddonnie, you have just inspired me to build another gasser! I buy donor kits and use the parts I need, I have boxes of unsued parts. I thought about radiusing the wheel wells on that one but was going for a low budget build! Don't worry my next one will be.

Guys:

A couple of years ago at the Knott's show we had a tribute car {Fireball Roberts F-code NASCAR 57 Custom} built by or for his daughter.  The car was amazing.  I sure wish I knew who owns it now as it really looked like a piece of history.

Was this the car Bob?

Jeff:

Yes, I believe that is the car.  I thought it was a very good tribute/replica car.  I wish that NASCAR would establish a true door slammer series that actually is for "stock" cars right off the showroom floor, with only a minimum of safety equipment.  Return "stock car" racing to where it started.

Totally agree Bob.
I have absolutely ZERO interest in Present day Nascar,NHRA or any other main stream motorsports.
I could care less if the Allstate insurance ran against a Battery company.I realize of course the INSANE cost of professional racing is the reason....But the sport also has little or no personality to attract myself.F-1 racing had this factor in the early sixties and is about a fun as watching paint dry.
Heck...at a Nascar event...I can't tell the cars apart..and there is nothing "stock" about them.

I guess I am just lost in yesterday because of the great personalities of each different section of car racing.

Agreed, Jeff.  I haven't watched a NASCAR race since 85.  Haven't followed Pro Stock, which was the only pro category I was ever interested in, since Glidden retired.  Who wants to watch a field of GM cars?   NHRA claims it tried to create parity in the sport, but it did so by eliminating everyone but GM.  They kept penalizing Glidden, every week, and it seems he got faster.  Poor Mopar had the Hemi cars saddled with basically the same penalties because of cylinder head design, and ran nowhere near as good as the Boss 9 cars of Glidden.  Then the Dodge boys get busted for Nitrous..  Funny, because it was one of Glidden's sons that kept insisting that NO2 use was rampant in the class.  They didnt listen so Rusty Glidden did it himself to prove the point, was caught and in the investigation found that a significant number of competitors were doing it.  Glad Bob was found to not be, he just had a lot of know how to make power, and he made a lot of it, in spite of NHRA's foolish punishment of the only competitive Ford team.  But it was done in the name of parity.  Used to be, the best running car won.  You ran what you brung and hope you brung enough.  Now, you run well more than a race or two in a row, and they add a bunch of weight, or limit you in other ways.  Sad really, that the only way the bowtie boys could compete was having the rules changed.  It was like that in the Cleveland days when the Fords were on a tear, and it's like that now.   I believe now, the Fords have to compete with a regular 460 style head, though much improved.  Not a Boss head though.  Chev cried to ol` Wally when he was still kicking, and got the rules changed again.  Chevy..what a bunch of whiny losers.  Always have been, always will be.  Sorry for the rant, but Jeff Norwell, I am totally with you.  If I am not participating in drag racing, or watching local drags, I am prob not watching it or any other kind of racing, because it is just watching a bunch of millionaires who still get paid if they lose.
