Is there a place out there that sells re-prints of the 57 Ford Shop Service manuals?..... or is it a Swap meet hunt and find deal?

Some Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) are archived on this site.  Original factory service manuals come along regularly on eBay.  Well worth the money.  Reprints for the electrical and assembly manuals.  Again, well worth the money.

Jeff....the regular service manual and the glovebox owner's manual are both being repoped..most any distributor should have them. I believe the trim and sealant manual is being repoped also (recommended..lots of good info). I never picked up an electrical manual 'cause my electrical system was going to be anything but oem. Harder to find is the chassis manual..I looked for so long I don't need it anymore, but if I ever run into a hard copy I'll probably pick it up anyway. I think all of them are available on CD. Just do an ebay search for manuals.... should lead you to distributors.

Every year there is a fella at this local swap meet with a huge trailer load of original manuals....I will see him this year.... or check out the old Autos Newspaper here in Ontario(great rag..HIGHLY reccommend it---cheap sub)
His manuals usually go for about 20-60 bucks depending on the vehicle.

Yes Bill..... I agree....I bought some 55-58 chrysler manuals for all my hemis... pure gold.

Jeff...

I think I bought mine on eBay...well worth it! I bought a bunch of repopped ads for the wagon, too. I should take those to the car shows and lay 'em in the back for when the "mature ladies" want to discuss their teenage experiences in station wagons.

The only manuals worth buying from Jim Osborn are the shop manual and the electrial manual. The others are not original Ford publications, but aftermarket books made up of information taken from the shop manual. At swap meets you might want to also look for the "1955/1957 Chassis Pars Catalog", and the "1953 thru 1957 Body Parts " catalog.
If you were doing a restoration I would also recommend the 1957 Ford & Thunderbird soft trim catalog, hard to find and expensive but worth it for restorers.

RICH MUISE

I'm not sure if the trim and sealant manual is an osborn repro, or somebody else's, but I've gotten more useful info out of that book than any others. Lot's of "soft" trim info in it as well, so I'm not sure if that was what Lou was refering to. The jack storage info I recently posted for the guys looking for it was from that book. It's got stuff like the door assemblies with regulators, channels, glass...every nut and bolt..(and sealant) Like all the other manuals (except chassis manual)..it does not have much assembly info forward of the firewall.

Jack storage is in the body parts catalog, as is the door assembley and sealant. Soft trim is in ...well...the soft trim catalog and the 49/59 master parts catalog along with body panels blow-up pictures and door and tail gate asemblies.

Jeff Norwell

Well..... Old thread. but just ordered the Manuals I needed.
Not really interested in originals...I just want the info.
I went with Osborn... nice folks.
