Question about cable hold down piece.

I wish to thank all you for the + Karmas that I recently received.  That was a pleasant surprise.

Now for my question.
Enclosed is a picture of my firewall.  There is a small flat spot / tab on the left near the MC with  two small holes in it.   What goes in those holes?  I think that the hood release cable and windshield wiper are supposed to be attached to this tab and that I might be missing something.  If someone would post a picture of how they are supposed to be attached, I would appreciate it.  If you can give me the dimensions of what I'm missing , I should be able to make the missing piece.
Of course this job will have to wait until the car is painted  and I'm installing my SS and bumpers because I don't want to get away from my delightful block sanding.  Just trying to get all of my ducks in a row.  Thank you  Jay

PS...I can't explain why the lower section of firewall in the picture looks like a different color.

Jay,
Mine only has one hole, the one you have the blue wire tie through. It has the hood release cable bracket attached there, but who knows who might have changed it over the years. I noticed your bracket is under the lip, mine is on top..

    Thanks for your response.
The sheet metal tab on mine is incorrect.( I think)   It will do for now though.
I sort of imagined a solid L shaped piece on the top with a hole in it for the attaching screw. It held one or both of the cables, but it could be my imagination.   I took the car apart a looong time ago and am having trouble finding little pieces even though I was very careful putting things into baggies..

Sorry I couldn't get a picture it's sort of behind my electric wiper motor. Mine is a sheet metal type clip in a U shape with one leg longer that has the hole, only the hood release cable is attached, but then again it may not be the original set up.

Does yours look like this?  This is the one on Jeff's car.    If so, I have to assume it's the one I need,  must have a good one in my junk collection..   Mine is broken and held together with a big washer.  I put it under the lip so you don't see the washer.

Jay.. these pics may be a tad bigger for you.....

Yes the one on top of the lip looks like mine. The other clip in Jeffs shot should be for the wiring harness. If this helps it looks like this from a profile.

 Jim and Jeff   Thanks  Guys!
So now the verdict is in.  Three out of three.    Now I know for sure what that piece is supposed to look like.  I'll do something about it AFTER  I get some paint on the car.     Jay

    The bigger pictures did help

Now for a new question.  Would you please go back  to the third picture that you posted today and look at the place where your wiring is coming out of your firewall.  There are two clusters of wires.   One goes toward the engine and one goes down.
WHAT IS THAT TO THE RIGHT OF THE WIRES GOING DOWN?  I'M HOPING THAT IT IS YOUR W/S WIPER CABLE CONTROL CABLE.  That's where I poked mine through from inside.
Make sure that you take LOTS of pictures of your car before you take it apart.
Look at what I'm going through now over stupid little stuff.  Jay Arrow

Yes Jay... it is indeed the cable for the wiper....I traced it back to the switch in the car.
Mine just needs a good soaking in diesel, coca cola or molasses.....

Thanks a lot...    At least I poked the W/S wiper cable through the right hole on the firewall.  Take it off and soak it in diesel or whatever you have for a long time and it will come out working like new.  I usually take stuff like that and soak it in the oil drain bucket.
It's a good idea to tie a string to it and then tie it off somewhere so it will not get thrown out by accident.  That also also makes it easy to find it in the bucket.

I'm home all day so give me a call when you get a chance.  Jay
