Rich Muise was correct.

I'm just cranking everyone's crank  :002:.

But the way I described building a race car is exactly what we did back in the 60's.  Where I raced, the car to beat at the time was a '57 with a 312.  We followed suit and had some fun.  My next race car was a '56 Chevy 2-dr 150.  I paid $15 for it.  Had a dead six and was rusty, like every car in upstate New York.

Remember: Don't ever give an oval tracker a decent car and a torch  :003:.  How many cars ya' think have met that fate over the years?????

Too many of them .  It's off topic, but that's why we can't find any parts at all for my kid's Pinto hatchback.  They all got cut up into round track pony class cars, which you know, is really big here in the south.

Pintos????????  Long gone around here too.  Along with Mustang IIs.

I remember in the mid-late 70's in upstate New York the Pintos were already rusted out from the door handles down!!  Some more of that Ford factory brine bath!!

I truly respect  4thgen57 for admitting on a public forum, the ownership of his first race car.

There is a local junkyard here that has a couple 79 Pinto's in it. This is by far the ugliest year Pinto, but if you need any parts let me know and I'll take a look next time I'm out there. Sorry to send this thread farther sideways.

Wow! I had no idea that pony car racing was so popular in the south.....guess I do now.

JPotter57

Man it was big time down here for a while, lots of 1/8 and 1/4 round tracks, every where.  It has slowed down a bit now, and now they use escort zx2, other disposable front drivers for wheels now..

Just noticed on my '57.

As I mentioned before, I'm missing the pass side visor delete garnish molding.

Not previously paying any attention, there is no visor on the drivers side.  Is this common?  The molding looks ill-fitting.  I wonder if the right is now on the left?

You should have a visor rod connected to that piece of trim or a hole if its broke away.

It's a smooth piece of trim.  No hole, no broken piece.  I thought the cheap cars, like this one, got at least a drivers side visor.

My guess is what's on your driver's side was on the passenger side, as you suspected. I think you are correct in that they all came with a driver's side visor, passenger side was optional on at least the cheaper models. That should make it a little easier for you.... a driver's side visor should be no problem to find.
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

Sounds like we all need to get together and buy a parts car.

JPotter57

Probably a pass side delete plate.  Hard to find part..you got lucky.
