There is nothing better than to see a 57 Ford out and on the road.
Your picture reminds me very much of when my brother and I drove a 57 Ford Beach Wagon from Mass. to California and back again to Mass in the early 1960s.
Before we made the trip, we installed a fresh junk yard Y block. The engine drove perfectly and the rear seal was not leaking. It was kinda expensive.  We paid about $200
for that used junkyard Y block

Jay, can I order one of those junkyard non leaking Y blocks ? I'll pay $250 !

Mr.Guenter,  Back in those days there were always old cars in backyards.  People wanted to just get rid of them.  I remember dragging old Fords home and I only paid
$5. or $10. for them.  Times have changed.
I'll bet that Rich remembers because he came from my area in Mass.

Jay, that's exactly what I was thinking when Joe posted the picture of a 67 Cougar and mentioned that if it were an XR7, it would be prohibitive today. I not only had an XR7, but it was a 390 GT. Back then, it was just another used car in early 1970s Socal. I didn't keep it long, as it was my work commuter car, and it was not dependable.
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

Yeah, but I bet it was fun!
When I was 14 years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned 21, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last 7 years!

I rebuilt a 68, 289/c4 with 3.0 rear.  It was fun and surprised many guys from a stop.  I didn't get to drive it much as it was my daughter's

Like we have disgussed in the past , you and I went to the very same drive ins around here at the same time, and we never got to know each other.  We even knew the same disk jockies.  Jay
