Quote from: RICH MUISE on 2026-04-26 11:35I may have my first electrical issue with my '57. Replaced a headlight yesterday and it still doesn't work...just a very dim glow.
I wired the car as if was fiberglass...nothing grounded to the body or frame, so I suspect I have a ground wire loose. I did just clean the engine compartment with a high-pressure hose, and I do have an uncovered ground wire terminal on the radiator support, so that's where I'll start looking. I can't remember how I grounded the headlights, I guess I'm about to remind myself.
BTW, I just turned the odometer to 90,000 since build completion.
That open ground wire terminal was exactly where the issue was. Using a continuity tester, every wiring component to the headlight checked out fine. This morning, I just plugged the headlight ground wire into a different spade terminal and that corrected the problem. I did use electrical contact grease when I moved it. :burnout:

Last Saturday I did a car show at one of the local Ford dealers. It was put on by the local Mustang club, so 3/4 of the show was of course Mustangs, but the nice part about that was there was ZERO tri-five Chevies or Camaros!
I was parked next to a perfect factory sleeper car. It was a '69 Mustang convertible with factory dog dish hubcaps powered by a 428! Somebody told me the car was a 100 point car at a big points-judged event in Alburquerque (?). With all the Mustangs there, I hadn't paid much attention to it until I heard another guy talking about it.

Bet there was a trailer parked around somewhere.
Sounds like a sweet ride though.

We finally got some rain here last night. Much needed. It's been so dry here, I've noticed many of the local farms are doing nothing with their fields.
I did a rt66 car show yesterday. It was small, but temps were mid 70's, so enjoyable. Live music, a few really good-looking ladies, and I got the award for best 50's. Small car show as I said, I didn't even know they were giving awards, so that was a nice surprise. The show was in McLean Tx, about 75 miles east of Amarillo.

Nice Rich, congrats on the award it's a beautiful car.
Rain? You can keep it; 3 days of rain for the holiday weekend here. Sun finally came out about 2 hours ago.

We have had rain here...2-3 days at a time, then 2-3 days of sun, then back to rain. Had a bit of rain today with one thunderclap...right now clear, but tomorrow evening is supposed to see rain return...until Sunday morning.
Let it rain...working on my 49 Ford, and some on my SVO Mustang. Shop is pretty functional now, so getting small projects out of the way, then Fairlane time again this fall.

We are "enjoying" much similar weather except only a couple of hours of sun in the AM then 2 - 3 PM showers....sometimes.  Makes outside work hit and miss.  The hard part is the air is so thick (humid) you need a knife to cut it!  Not complaining, just making observations, moved here to stay out of the "frozen tundra"!

We are on the verge of the wettest May on record and we are currently under a flash flood warning the 4th time this week. I am having to cut my grass twice a week...
