How cool is this. A vendor at the Goodguys swap meet had these. I'll include his business card for our Texas members

personally remember seeing similar stickers as a kid, but mostly from southern states. have never heard of one from oregon or washington but might be wrong on that. wonder if it was more about dipping into peoples' wallets than safety. then there were also those decals that ''supported the local sheriff'' supposedly would grant a bit of immunity for minor infractions. those always struck me as wrong or should the right word be corrupt.

would be curious who remembers either of those style stickers in their home states.

My opinion is basic safety inspections should be a requirement of registration....kinda like insurance. It makes no sense to me that some states will register a car without proof of insurance.
I believe Texas is changing/has changed to a single registration sticker, but you will have to get your car inspected and bring the paperwork to the DMV before they'll issue the registration renewal.

Here's mine. Actually they are used here to verify emission compliance under a federal mandate. I really don't have to have one, I can register my car as an antique. It is a badge of honor to me because it verifies that all my stuff works.  :002:

Cool, I love to see little detail extras like that on a car!  My previous car (1960 C***y) had a South Carolina inspection sticker in the windshield, when I changed the windshield I photographed the sticker and printed a new one out for the new glass.

Check out Bob Holts Classic Inspection Stickers website......In 57 Texas stickers was on the right side.....

I'll have to double check that, Outlaw.....I thought right side placement was up until 55 or 6. Before I put it on, I was going to check with the DMV to see if it was a requirement to remove old stickers from the "approved area". If so, I was going to put it on the right side anyway.

Outlaw:...weather sure was crappy for the Goodguys show last weekend, was there, walked around in the rain for a few hours, not much to see. So much for the 20% chance of rain.

Gotta get me one of those for the Ranchero.

I am having to go thru the process of getting my car registered here in Texas.
Several problems i am having are it has a lost title, It was last registered in California(i think). I can't get an out of state inspection until i get an exhaust on the car, previous owner gutted it. I need to have the out of state inspection to even start the bonded title process.
Ifs finny because i have pictures of the car when it was in Cali and one of the previous owners was running a "56" plate on it and the guy i got it from sold it to me with a "58" texas plate installed.
I have a rust hole in my passanger side inner fender well, It's 58 years old what do you expect?
