:unitedstates:         hello fellow 57 people,I have been needing a good frame for a winter build Im planning on.My 57 300 custom, measured 15 ft 4 in.(end of drivers side front..to..rear)from underneath.A guy has a nice 57 frame that he measured on top and got 188inches.If his frame was a Fairlaine would it not be longer? Is the 300 4 dr frame same as the two door?

4dr and 2dr frame for a Custom or Custom 300 is the same.   Fairlane frame won't work.   Wagon and Ranchero is similar, but has different rear shock mount.

There are 5 frames for 57,
1) Customs
2) Wgns, SD's and Rancheros
3) Converts
4) Retracts
5) Fairlanes

58's are the same except for Aire Suspension cars.

Goodluck,

The other frame should have a VIN number in 3 places.    The custom series has a special digit in the middle of the VIN.   1957Ford.com shows how to decode the VIN and locations.

Sounds like his is a Fairlane, so won't work. In a nutshell, as Ron posted, even if the lengths were the same, you would still need to check the rearward crossmembers.
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe
