Thank you guys.
I really forgot to mention, that one of the important details in those 8 days was driving the 57 daily (several times each day, 8 in a row). Even though most of the venues were in 15-20 minutes walking distance, it felt great cruising back and forth in the 57. It really set the mood for listening to 1950s music and being around people in 1950s style clothing. Most all of those attending, appreciate and love the style of the 1950s.
Also it seems that my San Jose, California built Country Sedan really enjoyed the seaside surroundings (being a former SF bay and Napa resident). :003:

official  festival pics just got online. great job by Marko and Ivana!

Like I said, the band were literally in the middle of the audience. I don't know any other music festival, where this is still possible, without security (none needed-no violence at all), fences (where ?) and what not. Maybe even the festival is back in the 1950s when things like this were still possible. I am somewhere in the crowd. we were all there.

It seems that Marko liked the 57 CS. :004:  :003:

Last weekend our 'local' car show and music festival, named 'Rolling Dudes' was back again in a new location after a 2 year break and several missed editions during the pandemic, just a 30 minutes drive for me, so I made it home on Friday , but decided to sleep in the 57CS on Saturday. Nice camping area with very clean rest rooms and showers. Lots of people and cars showed up. The location is a centuries old winery and horse stables, adapted for modern use. A kind of 'best of show' area (no prizes given) gathered about 50 or so 1950/60s only cars and Hot Rods inside the grounds. The outside parking lots were full with old cars as well, even though it was very hot and humid, thunderstorms and all.
The music shows were fantastic, The Kokomo Kings from Sweden brought some heavy slice of Blues and House Rocking stuff, while the Fuzillis from the UK  rocked the place with their early 1960s type Twist and Grind music. Roaring saxophone, wild guitars and kicking drums. One  of their songs is called 'Pizza sure is good', and our friend Fernando hopped on the stage with a stack of at least 25 (empty) pizza boxes, and the band started throwing them into the audience, didn't take long until all the boxes came flying back to the stage... it was a hilarious mess.....(not the actual video of this show)

now on to the cars.

like this pretty Club Sedan !

this is my friend 'Indian Fred's 60 Imp.
He spent several years living with native American people.
The banner on his windshield is for a charity event he is running in favor of handicapped children.

I guess the dancers liked the Doo Wop records I was playing ?!

edit: Actually, looking at the pic, that is one of the very few non-Doo Wop records I played that afternoon  :003:
A stroll favorite with many dancers, it's Cincinnatti Fireball by Johny Burnette.

Some neat Dearborn iron:

Today we had the annual car show of our local car club ACCG (American Car Club Graz), the club has been going since the 1980s with huge shows, although they have downsized a bit to a one day (morning/early afternoon) show at a football field/club, with BBQ and shaded food area, a bit of 1950s/60s/70s type music. Generally a very nice meeting, getting to talk with many old friends.
This year, as luck would have it, with my friends Mario and Robert, I initiated a shared parking for all of our 3 wagons, FoMoCo, GM and Mopar. all 1957, all 4drs, all the same (premium) trim line within their brands. Custom 300, Bel Air, Sierra. It made for an interesting comparison. also the MC shared a few words to the audience, so we had plenty of response and people looking. Will let you decide which one you like best.... :002:  :003: ...they do look a lot alike at first glance but also are very different at the same time. Details like grilles or totally different roof lines do stand out on each of them. I have to say I can appreciate all of them, but naturally my ranking would be biased...

Rob's Dodge even has a 325 Hemi , all og !

Thank you guys. I guess people enjoy those cars the same on both sides of the pond. It's really about like minded people and sharing an interest/hobby.

On Saturday, the day before yesterday's show. It was a tough decision whether I was going to pull my driveshaft or not. front U joint had developed some slight squeaking noise about halfway down on my trip to Croatia, but only at very low speeds with no further problems or vibrations or the usual roaring noise at 50 mph when a u joint starts going bad. Probably had been going on for some time because the noise of the U joint was hardly different from the slight squeaking sound of the dogdish hubcaps when cornering. long story short, I knew that the u joint was in it's final round, and with no proper replacement in stock I was hesitating to rip it apart, but still did. Obviously one side was shot, although the 3 other caps were still well greased and freely moving.

Anyways, with no replacement U joint in stock I started searching in my parts piles, and as many of you may know, 57 U joint cups are just slightly smaller than the usual standard U joint used in many later models of the 1960s to 80s. they also have grooves for the circlips. But I found a similar (used) cup, that had the same inner dimensions and needle rollers, that I could pull and fill the touched up og cup and spider shaft.
Works nicely, all squeaks gone, but honestly just a very redneck style repair and needs to be replaced with a proper new U joint asap. If I was in Cuba, it would probably be good for another 10thousand miles or so... :003:
