Absolutely Rich !
Much like in the US these are the old main roads which have been superseded by modern highways.
The pic above was taken on a 50 miles stretch, where the Autobahn is running along very closely to the old main road.
Since we are cruising our cars at 65 mph on the highway, and that's also mostly the speed limit on main roads.it doesn't even take so much longer to take the old roads. But you get to see much more of the scenery, villages and small towns. I love it !

As you can see, I am pretty happy about it !  :003:

I am wearing my greasy bib, because I had to fix the Mopar wagon a dozen times or so. the old Lady was having troubles with fuel delivery, but we still made it home alright.
Luckily all the preparation work done on my 57 before, really paid off and there wasn't a single hick up.

My buddy Neven posted these pics of said event recently.

That's my friend Alf von Graeve's 50 Merc from Germany

My friend Mario from Bavaria has the license plate PAN_EL57. There are no personalized plates available that in Germany, it must have been a lucky coincidence, Go Figure.  :003:

The Doge van is Chris' and the 57 Custom 2dr has a 302 and belongs to his girlfriend !

Very Cool, that Lincoln Zephyr is BAD A$$!!
When I was 14 years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned 21, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last 7 years!

Rich. yes that Mk2 is a wonderful car. I believe I have posted pics of exactly this one before, burried way down in this thread somewhere.
This was kind of an invitational only event, hosted on a private property. Kind of an old coal mine, deep in the woods of upper Austria. The years, style and type of cars are quite limited to an era from the 1920s to the 1960s.

If you think this Lincoln Zephyr is cool, you have seen nothing yet....haha, and I really do mean it. the owner/builder Sepp (Joseph) is one of the most eccentric car persons and collectors in Austria. He invited us over to his place and we spent a few hours there on Sunday. I did not take pics, respecting his collection. but I guess I stopped counting 39/40/41 Zephyrs at 5 or 6, mostly coupes. he is also crazy about 1930s Cadillacs and LaSalle and Buicks and Flathead Fords. He must have 10 or 15 of these Caddies, also a 1928 Cadillac hiboy raodster and a 1934 Caddy Coupe with a blown Hemi in it. and a 1930ish Plymouth Coupe with a Russian aviation radial engine in it. all his many garage walls are covered with shelves, floors to the ceiling. he has 10x Frentzel and McCulloch setups for Flathead Ford and about 50-60 pairs of vintage hi compression aluminium heads. I lost track with his Nailheads, Hemis, Olds Rockets and a never ending row of very early Cadillac OHV V8s. Naturally Lincoln Flathead V8s and V12s are mixed in also.

It is literal insanity, and he still is a decent person to hang out with and talk to.
People in our hobby are just incredible !

The cars in those pics are WAY more interesting than the cars here locally. I am so tired of tri-five chevys, LS engines, SBC engines etc. Very cool!!!! Thanks Guenter.

I didn't see the '56 Continental MK II at first, they are really cool cars, although they are an engineering nightmare to work on and find parts, for example the trunk mounted AC unit $$$$

The Mk2 have an insane amount of accessories, electric and vacuum lines and the exhaust is routed halfway through the fenders and rockers.
I am glad you guys like to also entertain the cars that are not 57 Ford. Thankfully Neven took those pics, as I was much too busy meeting and talking to many old friends that some of them we had not met or seen their cars in years.
I believe that some of us European guys may be a bit more discerning when it comes to chose more oddball or different cars, since they are not easily available to begin with. So if you start making up your mind, looking for a certain car, and we have to go over all the hurdles of shipping, import, taxes, inspection and such. we may as well pick what we really want, not just whats mostly or easily available.
Also our group of car enthusiasts may focus on unique or lesser known brands or types, to set an individual statement. much like most of them have their own unique tattoos or favorite style of underground or lesser known music.
I must say I find a lot of joy in checking out cars that I have never seen before in person.
