1957 Fairlane U joint replacement

Ford Blue blood

My Ranchero has the standard cap and u-bolt on the rear, the 300 I parted had the pillow block type.

It get confusing and never know what was changed over the years.

Do you know the build date of yours?

Two of my rancheros had the tapered drive shaft/pillow block and I don't recall what the other one had. My custom 300 also had a tapered with the pillow block.

I did notice the rised ribs on the yoke u joints set in fine. I will recheck but it runs fine. I think what the manufactures did was to make the end caps a little longer and shorten the inner x cross. Before I replaced the U-joint I did check the size but that was the only difference I found.
