Yes G. it's sad.
Rich .... thank you..I have not been back to Texas since 13. I can't believe it..... but with the state of fuel prices and the immoral state of a Canadian buck compared to a US dollar(40 cents!)... travel to the US has been impossible.Distance wise)
I have heard folks from New Zealand have to pay 67 cents more for 1 US sawbuck.

Anyhow.... If I can't drive my car there..I simply aint going.

Well.. I now consider this project all done.. just finished the front and rear glass....
We are in the midst of a major move.. downsizing and selling off 40 years of stuff. We take possession in less than 30 days.. so I I had to button this up.....
Unfortunately.. both 57's are going into storage for the short term.... as a shop will be built ..
so yea.... I guess they are never really done. but I did accomplish the goal of getting a much abused 57 back on the road after 53 years.

The End.

Just an update... the OG Paint car has been running tops all summer and is now put away for a winters nap.
No issues what so ever.
I got a good amount of use this summer.. runs at 180 all day long..... pulls like a freight train....
I have been lurking all the time. just never saying much.. to be honest. my new shop has kept me busy,(along with work) and of course my Grand baby keeps us all on our toes.
As mentioned... I drove the 57 a ton. and occasionally stopping by my pal Terrys workplace. he is the Head wrench at the local Ford dealership... who has helped me greatly with both of my 57's.....

Stopped by to see if my warranty was still good.....

Jeff, the time you spend with the little one is well spent!  Trust me when I say the time of the innocence is short lived, before you know it you are sitting in a church pew watching her get married!  Cars are OK, even great but my grand daughters are the joy of my life!

Great to hear from you! Beautiful grand daughter (she takes after her grand mother?)... You are inspiring me to drive my car more, down here its a year round thing.
Lynn

Jeff Norwell

Thanks guys.
Yes,.. My little Lila Mae is our world... The innocence of young children is very much a true wonder.
Yes Lynn.. she does look like her Nana and Mother....  hahahah.. Drive that beautiful custom... its a personal favourite of mine and inspired both my cars.
Bill,... no truer words ever spoken. You are a wise man.

Back on the car.... I have been toying with the idea of a disc brake upgrade.... I just can't stand a big ugly booster hanging out in the wind. While the stock drums work very well.... an upgrade would be good.
Also gonna upgrade to a MSD6A box and a MSD distributer...of course.I will hide that ugly box somewhere.I have this stuff in the shop.. so I might as well use it. My only concern is that the factory distributor and pertronix unit are working really well.
If it ain't broke,.. why mess with it.

we will see.

Thanks again everyone.

When I was 14 years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned 21, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last 7 years!

Not sure what you are referring to......... "I just can't stand a big ugly booster hanging out in the wind." I'm guessing you are talking about a hydroboost, like mine, or were you referring to calipers? Yes, a hydroboost is definitely ugly, but worth the appearance sacrifice.

I've been running manual disc brakes on the front of my Ranchero for about 10 years stops great never had a problem.

djfordmanjack

yes, x2 ! my Del Rio had manual Disc brakes (Granada conversion) and it worked fine! It is important to use the correct proportion valve.
