Dave...that was a LOT of trailer to be hauling behind that car! Yikes!!!

X2, Agree, the weight of that trailer well exceeds the car weight.  I'd estimate it at about over 5K pounds.  Back in that era they used a device called a Slimp Wheel.  It was basically a trailer dolly that removed the tongue weight from the tow bumper.  It looked like a pair of front landing wheels from an airplane.  IMO, it was still "iffy at best".  Lucy and Desi used one their famous movie The Long, Long Trailer.  They towed with both a convertible '53 Merc, and a '53 Lincoln in different scene's.

Not to mention WAY under-powered I would suspect!

I hope they practice safe distancing driving that rig on the freeway. :003:

I don't believe they're ready to tow that trailer away.  The tongue jack appears to be down and the electrical seems to be running down and under the trailer.

The fellow who posted the pics said his parents were moving from Wisconsin to Dayton, Ohio. His dad and uncle owned a garage, so he thought the '54 might have been modified.

When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

Thanks Hugh, needed to re-charge the batteries, so the wife and I spent the week in Truro.

Good for you guys!

For you then...update...my wife signed today and mailed back papers on our house here in MO, I sign mine Thursday.  Which means I get to see her in about 10-12 days, and move her out here around August 20th. Haven't seen her since Saturday after Thanksgiving. So she's happy. By end of September we will be done with the moving process and back under the same roof again! Oh...and today...is out 29th anniversary...and for the 3rd year in a row...we have been 2000 miles apart. Next year...we get to celebrate our 30th...TOGETHER! WOW!    :003:

Been a long haul getting this all done! Hopefully after the dust settles I can start back on my Courier this winter! Jerry Henry and I have been doing some business together...radiators will be exchanging hands here soon! Still gathering parts! Never stops!  :006:

Truro is very nice. During the summer of '65 I worked for Cape Cod National Seashore and had a house in Wellfleet first, and then in  N. Truro. It was a great summer !
