When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

And who would have know all of the Merlin's that survived the war would someday be considered as surplus and would spend the rest of their time powering Miss Budweiser, and Miss Bardahl hulls on the lakes of America.

UGH! Didn't want to hear that! We are hoping to hit the road this coming week. Trailer is full of our household gear. Snow is not going to be a welcome accessory!

Actually a local photo, Misquamicut Beach in Westerly RI :

"Courtesy Of Andy Hall Cars being buried in the sand along Misquamicut beach. After Hurricane Carol struck in 1954, the owner of the Andrea Hotel bought up flood damaged cars from the area and buried them to strengthen the dunes in front of his hotel. Some were exposed and removed after Hurricane Sandy in 2012. I do not know if any are still there."

One of the Sandy's casualties was the Andrea Hotel. The storm surge undermined the 100 year old building forcing the owners to tear it down. While down in Misquamicut on Wednesday covering the rebuilding effort I spoke with Rebecca Colucci who owns The Andrea with her family. On their Facebook page they have 2 really neat pictures from after Carol and after Sandy. After Hurricane Carol the owner buried a number of cars under the sand to help reinforce the dune that protected the hotel. After Sandy the remnants of many of those cars were unearthed.

The Andrea Hotel after Sandy:

Andrea's Hotel and Restaurant on Atlantic Avenue was damaged by the concrete patio that was driven by the waves into the dining room.
