I don't think I've ever seen a pic of anything that looked quite like that jig they're using around that body. It would be interesting to know how that jig worked or it's purpose since my guesses are probably wrong.

The only '61 Ford I've seen here in many decades popped up here a couple years ago. 1st year for the 390. Has an odd special Alaska license plate on this very clean lookin' car. It had a for sale sign. If it had been a black car I'd have been very even more temped.

They appear to be assembling prototype sheet metal to verify fit and look for design interferences. I worked on this type assembly verification at the Assembly Division general office in Dearborn from 1979 to 1981. When we found at bad fit up, then the battle started with Body Engineering to get corrections made.
