This one lives up the road from me in Chilliwack, British Columbia.  When you climb under the back you will see the bumper all scraped from lifting the front end all the way up.  Cool piece of history.
Sounds good, smells great.

This is from the German Auto-Motor-Sport magazine from Summer 1964 ! test driving the T5- Mustang ! what's interesting is that it appears to have radial sports tires ! :icon_cyclops_ani: possibly an export feature ?
Joe, you were right with the Krupp Mustang truck, but I was also right, as Kreidler had a moped called Mustang as well.
The T5 runs a K- license plate, K for Koeln i.e. Cologne. the town German Fords were built. so this was probably a corporate test car.

OK, here is your history lesson for the day.
This picture was taken at Mission Raceway in Mission City, British Columbia.  It was a N.H.R.A. sanctioned track and if memory serves me right, Top Fuel and Funny Car National Records were set here.  It was closed down for the development of a Fiberglas factory and the British Columbia Custom Car Association agreed to move it about a mile away.  Once they were out of there the provincial government screwed them over and we did not have a track for years.
Just to add a bit to the story of Mission Raceway in BC Canada, the original dragstrip was first opened in 1965, and ran thru the end of the 1978 racing season, when it was closed to allow the construction of a large fiberglass factory on the tracks site. Since the old track was right beside a railway line, it was desirable for locating a factory. Unfortunately, the BC government failed to live up to their promise to supply the property to build a new track, so the car club (BC Custom Car Club) which owned, built and operated the track, spent many years in court fighting to government , in the late 80s, the club was given some land right beside the Fraser river, but it was basically useless, as it was on the water side of the dike, but after several years of pumping sand obtained through dredging of the Fraser river, there was finally enough fill to start building the new track. The new dragstrip finally opened in 1992, and has been in constant operation since. The track is still owned and operated by the same car club, and has enjoyed continual improvements over the years. I made my first 1/4 mile passes at the original track in 1974 (in a 57 Ford Sedan Delivery), raced at most of the races from that point on, including the last race in 1978. From 79 thru 1986, any drag racing for us meant a 3 hour haul down to Seattle International Raceway, or Bremerton Raceway in Washington, or 5 hours to Woodburn Oregon. In 1987, a new dragstrip opened near Ashcroft/Cache Creek BC, about 4 hours North of Vancouver. I was at opening day of the new Mission track in 1992, and have raced at least a dozen races a year since.(Always in a Ford, of course!)

Thanks for the history. Never made it up to either of the tracks for racing...even though I have been in WA since '72. My car days ended in'76 pretty much when I started getting more into law enforcement. too bad too because my white Courier was a race car at one time.
The next time it sees a track I'll be living n Missouri...and probably be close to 70. I'll run it though... a buddy of mine is 73 and still running his Corvette...and I am still in pretty good physical shape for that sort of thing. So I'll do a few for fun...assuming I can remember how! LOL!!!
But it is nice to learn about the history there. Heck...maybe I'll trailer the ol' gal up for a weekend of runs one day. My youngest is planning on staying in Port Angeles after the wife and I move...so we'll see. Thanks!  :burnout:

Rory, did you ever get to race at Boundary bay raceway? I think it was only in operation for around 3-4 years, 74-78? I got to race there a few times in my old 65 Mustang fastback.

Bill is awesome, crews himself, after the races he stuffs a slick in the truck, the other in passenger seat and drives it home to Vancouver Island.
I feel younger already.
