Ford FE 390 Tri-Power – Blue Oval Muscle from the Early '60s
In 1961 and 1962, Ford unleashed one of its most desirable big-blocks the 390 FE V8 with triple two-barrel carburetors, rated at a stout 375 horsepower. Known as the "3x2" setup, this factory hot-rod motor combined aggressive cam timing with high-flow heads and a trio of Holley carbs, delivering instant throttle response and strong mid-range pull.
The FE family (introduced in 1958) was already earning a name in NASCAR and drag racing, but the 390 Tri-Power cemented Ford's place in the muscle wars appearing in Galaxies, Thunderbirds, and full-size Fords that could humble the competition on both street and strip.
Collectors today prize these engines not only for their rarity but also for their unmistakable look the staggered triple carb setup under a finned air cleaner screams early '60s performance. In the right hands, the FE 390 could turn a family cruiser into a stoplight brawler.

Back in the 1980's I travelled into the northern region of Vancouver Island to do fleet surveys on these 'elephants' as they were known.  V-12 power with Allison automatics and 16' wide bunks.  At one landing the sign said no loads over 35-feet high.  Locally manufactured Pacific and Kenworth.

Some REAL "Cruiser" skirts. If I'm not mistaken, that's where the name for them came from......Mercury's Turnpike Cruiser.

It was a Monterey if I recall right, bought that for my girlfriend while I drove my 57 Ford 300.

I went 1968 Dodge Dart GTS 383 4sp Like this but this one was not mine a photo I found.  I was working for Ford/Lincoln/Mercury and the owner was not happy one of his mechanics was driving a Dodge, made me park behind the shop.  Fix that drove my Harley and parking inside.
