I need help/instructions on removing an ignition switch

I recently acquired a complete '57 dash and I'm trying to remove, what I believe is the orginal ignition switch, but so far it will not come apart. The dash is on my work bench, so getting to the switch, front or back, is not an issue. I have pushed the switch assembly from the backside towards the front of the dash, collapsing the spring, and simultaneously turning the switch assembly in either direction, but it will not budge.
What am I doing wrong..........and how do I get it out?
Thanks in advance!

Reach in behind the dash and push forward against the spring then the bezel will protrude out from the dash. The bezel will twist a quarter turn and should come off easily. Disconnect your battery first though.
