I'm in need of a pair of '63-'64 Galaxie  289 Motor Mounts and would like mounts that are made in USA. I don't want the made in China or made in India mounts, as everything you hear or read about them says they are JUNK.

Is there a source for USA made '63-'64 Galaxie 289 Motor Mounts?
Thanks
John

Sad to say, but it's almost next to impossible to find the country of origin on parts today, well, that is, untill they show up at your door.   :iamwithstupid:
When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

Even NOS would probably be better then the crap made today. Have you ever tried Green Sales?

You might want to try galaxie parts places.  I found this one.   Not sure if the catalog is current. But worth a try ask where are the mounts from. https://budsclassiccars.com/wp-content/uploads/Buds%20Classic%20Car%20Catalog.pdf

I run the same mounts on my Fairlane.  But they are years old.

another problem with that is, that sometimes in an online shop a part is declared made in USA and when it shows up, it contains foreign stuff, but it may be called made in US if assembled in the US or some parts, or even only the box was made in the US.

I miss the good old real quality of the original parts !

my passport states differently, but in my heart I feel  :unitedstates: .... :002:

I can't tell you how many guys on this site have helped me out over the years..  Can you  post a picture of what they look like?  I may have have a used set that have been laying around the shop for 25 - 30 + years, long before they were peddling the off shore bubble gum stuff.

John......for what it's worth........when I first installed the 4.6 dohc, I used Anchor motor mounts ('01 Mustang). They were first bought about 10 years ago(?). When I had to replace the engine several years ago, I ordered a new set of Anchors while I was waiting for the replacement motor to arrive from California. I just wanted to have everything I'd need ready. I went ahead and used the new set I bought, but to tell the truth, after I could really get a good close look at the old ones, I was amazed at how well they had held up, particularly the big rubber "cushion" that was molded into the mounts. Not a crack anywhere! So, my experience is obviously limited, but I wouldn't hesitate a minute to use Anchor again.
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

If you cant find US made mounts you could always do what Gasman suggested and drill a hole through the mount, then bolt it so it cant separate. It's not a bad idea.

In 1971, GM recall 6.8 million vehicles to install a mickey mouse cable around the upper control arm and up to the exhaust manifold to keep engines in place in the event the mount breaks.

All manufacturers immediately changed all engine mounts to some kind of fail safe mount in case the rubber let go.  I immediately drilled and bolted every mount that I touched no matter stock or race car.  Broken mounts were not that uncommon in pre '74 model cars.  Millions of vehicles likely never had a broken mount.  But, if that one was mine, I didn't want to suffer the damage because I was too lazy to bolt the mount.  What, while you have the mount in hand, it takes 15 minutes and it can't hurt anything!

Thanks for the replies. I looked into the Anchor Brand motor mounts. They are listed on Amazon as " Country of Origin" United States.

That sounded good, but I wanted confirmation, so I called Anchor and spoke to someone that looked up the two Anchor numbers, 2220 and 2221 and he confirmed that these two mounts are made in their facility in Cleveland Ohio. The fella I spoke to went on to say that mounts for older cars such as ours are made stateside. Mounts for what he called "newer" cars are made overseas. He did not elaborate on what constitutes "Newer Cars"

So I ordered the mounts from Amazon, and they say they will be here Saturday or Monday. When I receive them I'll post again.

Good luck I hope you get good ones. The Anchors for the 57 were so bad the engine would flop around and the exhaust would hit the cross member. but thats a old story I have told before.

My question just out of curiosity is the quality of the rubber regardless of were they are made.. Nothing made of rubber today seems to last very long. I can't even find decent rubber caps for the vacuum ports on my Holley carb, lucky to get a year out of them..

I should have been more specific when mentioning the '01 Mustang mounts. The 4.6 mounts were made for the GT and Cobra models, so probably were beefier than std. mount.

Agree on the drilling of the mounts.  But you only need to do the left (driver's) side mount due to torque.  Just a 3/8" bolt with a Nylox nut, just snug it up, and you can sleep at night.  I'm sure launching the car at 5000 RPM from a stop light has nothing to do with this problem.  We ran a short piece of welded chain from the block to the frame rail on the left side on our race car to relieve the pressure on the mount.
