A few coats of base and then several coats of clear. I am very pleased with the color:

When I was 14 years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned 21, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last 7 years!

Also got the doors jammed so they can be re-installed with the fenders and get the gaps re-aligned. After that, we can paint the bottom black and layout the GT stripe:

Looks like the same colour as Springtime Yellow from a year two earlier. Nice choice, I like it.

Got the black sprayed for the GT stripe, I'm not carrying all the way to the quarter panel as I personally don't care for the look as it "climbs" up the quarter, but hey, it's not a restoration! Besides, Ford never carried it to the front of the fender, so...

Joe
You keep yourself very busy, and you do good work.
    I just love that car.
It was good talking to you today. JA

Looking great, and coming along nicely, Joe. Good to see that some body shops are willing, and capable of working on old cars, AND in a timely fashion. You hear so many horror stories about cars being held hostage in "body shop jail", for years, and never getting finished, poor bodywork, missing parts, and bills triple the original quote. Seems that you found a great shop! As for the rocker stripes, I agree, I always thought that the 68-69 "GT" stripes looked kinda odd, on the 1/4 panel, going uphill. My 66 Fairlane GTA was black with the white rocker stripes, and they were only on the front fenders, behind the wheel opening, along the door, and ended at the front of the rear wheel opening of the rear 1/4 panel, which I agree, looks better.

Thanks guys; Bob does great work and has done the body work on a couple of other restorations for me on '64 Corvettes.
He's mainly a collision shop and will only do one restoration job at time and he does it in the old shop so as not to take away from any of the other jobs that are going on.

These are other two jobs:

...as well as welding up the old mirrors holes in my '39 and matching the paint flawlessly after I moved the mirrors from the door to the hinges:

Spent some time in the shop yesterday morning laying out the "GT" stripe. We tried it on the lift, but the weight of the car threw the lines off ever so slightly, so we placed it on jack stands in the rear and on some old rims in the front so we weren't laying on the ground:

Once we had the stripes squared away, we pulled the fenders and rolled it into the booth:

Then it was time for the masking party to start which pretty much took the whole afternoon:

We got the fenders setup on separate stands, the trunk and hood will be done separately:

Now it's time to mix up the sealer and get ready to start laying it down:

Once again, the master of his craft at work:

Once the sealer flashes, he can start laying down the basecoat. After the final coat flashes, we can remove the tape for the stipes and tack it, then mix up and start applying the clear; it's going to be a long night:

Okay, now it's time to pull the tape, cleanup any nubs and run a tack rag over everything and start applying the clear:

I'm really liking it,  can't wait for the shine!
