Went to Summit to day to pickup parts for the Ranchero and walked in the door and low and behold they had this beauty on display. Lousy cell phone pics, but trust me when I say this car is absolutely beautiful. I couldn't tell what motor was in it, I was guessing a DOHC 4.6 with some fancy valve covers. They looked like Boss 429 covers but were labeled Boss 357, maybe a windsor based Boss motor I've never heard of, that's entirely possible. Had a sweet EFI Weber style induction system on it though. No idea if this is a tribute car to the movie car or an actual car from the moive, either way beautiful piece.

I know you can get 557 stroker kits for 429-460's. I think there a 4.5 " stoke with a .060 overbore.
Man that's a nice car.....

Awesome!! Makes me want to dig out that movie and watch it again. Didn't they have a Lincoln engine in the story line for the movie?

I know you can get big numbers out of the 429/460 block. The guy I bought my Ranchero from has a 514 stuffed, and I do mean stuffed, into a Model A. Pretty wicked car to say the least. And those covers could had said Boss 557, the car was on a spinning turntable and hard to see, but I swore it said Boss 357. Any way you shake it, killer car.

Did you get any pics of the engine? That's an absolutly gorgeous car...love that shiny shiny shiny.
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

CableguyJJS3

Sadly no, No pics of the car. They wouldn't let me into the roped off area next to the car and with it spining no way for me to get high enough to get a good look let alone good pics of the engine. I really did want a better look at it, but no dice sadly.

Thanks for the pictures.  Really nice looking custom.  Looks like back seat delete, but has a radio antenna.   I would like to know the tire sizes.

Looks like what Norwell is hoping to create.

I'd lie the option to put steeliness on my black sedan for a change of look, but the 13" Baer rotors cut down the wheel options.

Not to nitpick, the rake looks great to me however for my taste the altitude gives me nose bleeds. It is beautiful though maybe it will become a Summit catalog centerfold if we're lucky.

And for the record, personally really hate to pick anyones' car apart. Am sure its perfect for the owner and definitely tons better than the Thunder Road 57 ever was.

Wasn't the thunder road car a Fairlane?
Yes it was a Fairlane, the black Custom was driven by his enemy the best I remember.
