Thanks, here's another along with a pretty interesting letter from him.

"Whenever Steve traveled, it was always with a six-pack of beer in a cooler." Steve had bought his 57 Ford pickup from a migrant farm worker, and acquired a number of vehicles in similar circumstances, flagging down the driver for an on-the-spot roadside deal. -Barbara McQueen.

I remember the Manson days well. I was not too far away from where Sharon Tate and others were killed that night. I was in boarding school, and the morning the bodies were found, the school was put under lock-down and the gates were locked up...day and night until law enforcement was certain they had everyone in custody.
I'm guessing he had a right to feel a little concerned. Hairy days those were!

Can anyone read or know the license plate state on that Falcon? I'm wondering if the ferry is old time Lido Isle/Newport Bch., Ca.

Not sure what you're seeing, except a quick look is like what you described. A closer look shows the ("something that doesn't belong there"?) exhaust blocking the view of the shock lever making it look cut off.
