24 Hours of Le Mans 1967. Don Frey and Carroll Shelby at the end of the race...

When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

My how young the two of them look! Must have been taken before the race that day...'cause after the race there would have been ear to ear grins on both faces!  :003:

Hugh, you need to get ahold of the 2 Ford booklets 'Ford Station Wagon Living' Part#1 and #2.
I believer the red 56 Ford wgn pic is from that first book, which was published 1957. naturally it is mostly 56 Fords in that one. ( red cover book). Book #2 (blue cover book) is from 58 and has mostly 57 Ford wgns in it.
these are totally awesome and a must have period collectable for every Ford wagon ( and Delivery) owner !

Found Volume II on Amazon...haven't located #I yet. Still looking.

How about this one:

Carroll Shelby, center, drivers Ken Miles, left, and Lloyd Ruby, right, Leo Beebe, head of Ford's racing programs, and Shelby American's Ford liaison, Ray Geddes, far right, after winning Daytona 1965. It was the first win for the GT 40

The last pic looks like they were happier...but still...seems like they would have been a lot more excited about the end results of that race, since if memory serves...they took 1st 3 places. Although...they were probably bushed by then too! Knowing Shelby...he probably was awake the entire race. And Frey as well.
Good pics! Thanks!

Checked out the book you found...one review said that it was a high speed scan/copy. I will keep looking to see if I can find an original hard copy. Thanks for the link though. The newer hard copies didn't look any better. I imagine finding an original may take some time and patience! (patience? what?!)

Lou

Check with the literature dealers that advertise in Hemmings. That book is worth about $20.00 used in hard cover, in like new condition.
