Not sure if "artists" were tagging new cars with graffiti back in the early 60s or not, but I knew a guy that worked at a large new car auto terminal/storage facility, and when they went to unload new Z/28 Camaros in the late 70s, it wasn`t uncommon to find an empty spot were the Super T10 4 speeds had been. I guess if a group of thieves jump on a train load of new cars, headed thousands of miles away, they could remove several transmissions while the train was en route, and toss them on the grass beside the tracks, for a fellow crook to pickup. Plus I suppose some kids could throw rocks at the cars and/or windows while the train was chugging along. The T10 4 speed theft you described occurred in the Atlanta area as the railcars left the BOP (Buick-Olds-Pontiac) plant back in the day. Bucket seats were also stolen .......So I'm told.
