Turns out my starter issues had to do with the auto transmission.   I have the Fordomatic with the low. 
I finally got it starter and must have knock out whatever what causing the bind. 
No the car can drive forward but it feels like it slipping.  Reverse is strong. 
But it sounds like I'll be dropping g the transmission soon for a fix. 😪

I did my FOM with a kit from FatsCo Transmission Parts.  Tech support was great.  An overhaul manual was included with the kit.

What were the symptoms you had before rebuild.
Did you get the bands from them also? Any other parts needed and did you get your TC rebuild local or what? 
Has anyone experienced the bind feeling.  Just worried some hard part might have broken. 

It was slow wake up in the morning...until it didn't.  I sourced the oil locally.  The rest came from FatsCo.  They even have hard parts.  The end play was good on the torque convertor so I just split it and cleaned it.  Flushed the cooler as well.
