Also managed to get the back seat squared away; sometimes you just need to walk away....

When I was 14 years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned 21, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last 7 years!

So I bought this about a few years ago for a Mustang project, but never used it:
It's a NOS Ford Litter Basket for Fairlane, Mustang, Galaxie or Torino.

I thought it was neat, little, novelty item so I decided to install it on my car. Everything was there, including the instruction:

I couldn't mount it directly under the ashtray because of the "hump"  from the way the rug  was stored, so I moved it closer to the passenger side. The only problem is that it doesn't close all the way, it sticks out about 3/4" because of the AC evaporator. If I ever change the rug, I'll center it.

Mounting does not require drilling any holes, pretty neat IMO

Also got my mats in;  wasn't sure if I was going to like them, but they're not bad:

I made my windlace, but like the rest of my upholstery, NO stitching at all. (seats were not recovered, just left original) I just used contact cement being careful not to get it on the foam cord. I've never had a problem with it.
What's left to do?

Looks good...both the bucket and the mats! Coming along. Little things make the difference!  :003:

Thanks, still working on the braking system; pedal travels 6" and stops an inch from the floor after gravity bleeding, conventional bleeding, power bleeding ass well as reverse pressure bleeding. No change, so I ordered a 10 psi residual pressure valve for the rear drums.
Also still need to set timing, adjust carb, basically tune it, but it's been so cold here, I don't want to keep the shop door open.
After that, tidy up the ignition wires, pull the front end apart and check everything. When I bought it, the front was converted to Willwood Disc brakes, and as was everything else that was done on the car by the OG owner, things were loose.
After that some minor wiring and general clean up and then hopefully a test drive if the weather ever breaks, 6" snow tonight into tomorrow.  bawl

That's one main reason I left Mass.
I'm sending a PM

I have been waiting on my rear arm rests from AutoKrafters for over a year now, so I decided to give them a call. They told me they have been on backorder for close to 2 years and that they get them from Dennis Carpenter and he gets them from China. They also said they had no idea when or if they would become available.

So I called a buddy of mine in PA and asked if he had a good set and he sent me these beautiful pieces with hardware for $40 shipped. I sprayed them down, scrubbed them and placed them in front of the woodstove to dry.

Later , I scuffed them and sprayed a light tack coat of SEM flexible black

After they set up, a couple of quick coats gave me the desired results:

I let them dry overnight and installed them today:

A little shiny, but I think a rub with some compound down the road will make them look more original; I'm just happy to get the interior finished!

Question...would using a satin black have cut down on the shine perhaps?
They do look nice though...and saved how much by cancelling the order?  :003:

Problem is I only had that black, it's the one I used for the seat belts, I think the gloss is because the vinyl is so smooth. I think it will dull, as it got dull where I rubbed it with my finger, just to fresh to do now.
Money wise? At $55 each plus tax and shipping? Probably would have been $150

Well, I finally got the car tuned yesterday; I set the timing and got the carb adjusted. I must say, she sounds a lot better.
Now that I have it set, I was able to do something with these ignition wires...

I loomed and re-routed them to something that looks a little better, this allowed me to cut them to size and remove the crimped ends and re-install them on the shortened wires. They are not perfect, but I think they at least look a lot neater:

I went yellow silicone to stay with that "Vintage" look.

It was one of the first things we did "back in the day" when we were kids, lol.

I still need to re-bleed the back brakes as I installed a 10psi residual valve, but I need to wait for my buddy to give me a hand, so...
I figured it was time to start cleaning her up.
I started with the engine compartment and undersides:

After lunch I'll start cleaning up and waxing the body, polishing the wheels and top etc...

The wires look as good as they can I think.
Undercarriage looks too nice to drive! LOL!!!   :006:

Thanks Hugh, got the brakes bled and got a coat of wax on her.  A couple   loose ends to tie up and then wait for weather to break so I can go for a test ride...
