Yes, would appreciate seeing further ideas! Except for tweet style cloth, these days fabric and cloth is not as common on street rods and customs as artificial leather.

The outer material is a soft vinyl, the other fabric is outdoor umbrella stock.  I am away for the weekend and will sent you some photos of what we did in my Mercury truck.

Here is what I started with and what we came up with.  I bought the fabric online and took it to my stitcher, he compared it to the webbing on 1960's lawn furniture.  He also took it and made the piping.

Thinking outside the box.

The dash was a lesson in figurometry.  I bought a NOS Shift-O-Guide speedometer and found the 1950 has a smaller diameter than a 1951.  I wanted to use it and came up with the plan.  Fill in the two holes over the column, delete the ashtray, lengthen the glove box door, place the speedometer in the center, then cut a rare Mercury hood spear in 2 for the dash trim.  I do not like wall to wall gauges so I hung mine under the dash on a swinging plate that locks up out of sight when not needed.  Viola!

Real sweet interior!! Loving the piping made from fabric. The dash also came out beautiful !
